Free Internet Marketing Resources
There are many different methods to help your web page show up on Google. Many webmasters spend their whole day trying to find the next best secret method to raise their web site in search engine listings. This is a very important part of marketing and getting more traffic to your website, but most people look to external sources to get the results they are looking for when it comes to seo.
You may have heard of the terms “on page seo” and this term refers to what and how you can change content that is on your own website to boost search results. This is what I am going to talk about a little bit in this article. Yes, back links must be one of the biggest factors when it comes to getting listed on Google and especially on the first page. However, many people forget that the easiest to change and the quickest results some times can come from your own site, not outsourcing links.
So what am I talking about?
I am referring to internal linking. There is a reason that Google webmaster tools has a section dedicated to internal links, its not just for looks!
Web sites normally have links to various sections, categories, or direct links to posts or pages. This is good and not only for Google for for humans as well. Adding standard navigation links should not be the end of your internal linking.
If you are familiar with search engine optimization, you already know that Google gives a higher ranking to words that are encapsulated in the tag and most times this is used for article or web page titles, so it lets the search engine know that this is the main topic of the page.
Now that being said, lets take that same method one step further.
I will start off by saying this is not a black hat seo trick, it is simply good seo methodology.
First we need to think about your site for minute, or at least you do. What is the main focus of your web page, where do you want visitors to go more than any where else on your page? Well, is it an opt in page, a sales letter, free download section?
Once you have narrowed it down to “the” most important page on your site, then we can focus on what search term you would want people to find this page in Google with. So hopefully you have it now, you know what page you want and what words you want that page ranked for.
Here’s what you do, make a link, with the link anchor text being what ever your keywords are and the link being the most important page of you site. Now, if you have a blog, you want this on every post, if you have a website, you want this on ever page!
Add this link using the tag again, to let Google know it’s important on all pages. What will happen is this, most sites have a link to their home page on ever page of the site, so Google assumes “this” is the important page. However in most cases that is not true, by adding a link to our “important” page on all of our posts with the tag, we have effectively told Google, This Is Our Important Page and These Are The Keywords That Are Related To It!
This is a great way to really boost your search engine ranking’s in no time flat; don’t forget to submit a new site map, or just submit your RSS feed again to automatically notify Google of the changes you have just made to your site.
Now just wait a while and check Google out, I think you will be pleasantly surprised.
To Success,
Nick Simpson
